Indi Samarajiva runs kottu.org, an aggregator for Sri Lankan weblogs or weblogs related to Sri Lankan content. In his spare time, he does lovely things with words to put forth his viewpoint. He is also the most difficult person to get in touch with. Indi, if you are reading this, I can’t email you so let me know your new email address.
Not only does he seem pretty cool – whether we agree on the same things or not is a moot point – but he has in a way suddenly become a colleague of mine.
Recently he was asked to write a regular column for the same paper that I contribute to – The Sunday Leader. However, he gets to be in the first few pages and I get the pullout Review section for the Perth Diary column. I don’t mind this since I get to have a regular link on the home page of the paper online.
My point is go find Indi Samarajiva’s column every Sunday online at the Sunday Leader or if you are in Sri Lanka, buy a copy and take a look at how he writes. And then compare it to the abysmal stuff that I write for Perth Diary. I am kidding, we have very different styles and possibly a few similar things to say in very different ways.
So Indi, welcome and I look forward to what you write each Sunday.
Cheers, Marisa.

Ah cool, thank you for the welcome. Seems like the paper has a lot of cool people
You’re welcome!
As for the paper, yes I know, it has a lot of cool people. I just wish I was back home and writing about things a bit more relevant to Sri Lanka. I feel very disconnected from what’s happening back there – I tend to hear stuff a few days after it has happened instead of right before it does so I can write about it and get a scoop!
